By Vanesa Zlatanova
24-10-2024

In our last part of the interview with George, Founder and CEO of the HR Innovator - a knowledge hub and event series dedicated to leaders, innovators, and change-makers in the HR world we will take a moment to discuss the importance of networking, building a trusted community and driving innovation.

Vanesa: Hi George, it is always a pleasure to talk to you. As an HR specialist, I am aware the aim of events is to give an insight into certain topics but also to contribute to meeting colleagues and exchanging ideas and good practices. Can you share with us how do your events foster networking and community building among HR professionals?

George: At The HR Innovator, fostering networking and community building among HR professionals is at the core of our event strategy. We create structured networking opportunities through interactive sessions, such as roundtable discussions, breakout rooms, and industry-specific panels, where participants can engage in meaningful conversations. Our events feature dedicated physical networking lounges where participants can meet informally, and we encourage continued engagement through post-event communities. By integrating technology and creating spaces for open dialogue, we build a supportive network of forward-thinking HR professionals committed to driving positive change in the industry.

Vanesa: That is amazing that you encourage people to connect and communicate meaningfully! Can you share some success stories where attendees have significantly benefited from the connections made at your events?

George: Absolutely! One notable success story involves a mid-level HR manager who attended our conference last year. Through our networking sessions, she connected with a senior HR executive from a different industry. They exchanged ideas and insights, which led to a mentorship relationship. This connection not only helped her gain valuable industry knowledge but also opened doors for a promotion at her organization.

Another example is a small HR tech startup that participated in our event. They met several potential clients and partners during the networking breaks, leading to two significant collaborations that expanded their reach and visibility in the market. Attendees have consistently reported that the relationships they build at our events lead to new opportunities, partnerships, and innovative ideas, which ultimately enhance their professional growth and the success of their organizations.

Vanesa: That is true success stories indeed! As an innovative company, every innovation behind the success I suppose you had many challenges on the road. What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced as a company and how did you overcome them?

George: Running a company, especially a startup or SMB, is like sailing in the ocean—full of unexpected challenges and shifting tides. One of the biggest challenges we've faced at The HR Innovator is navigating market uncertainties and competition in a rapidly evolving HR landscape. To overcome this, we focused on agility and adaptability.

We conducted extensive market research to understand our audience better, allowing us to tailor our offerings to meet their needs. We also invested in technology to streamline our operations and enhance the attendee experience at our events.

Additionally, building a strong community around our brand has been crucial. By fostering relationships with HR professionals and industry leaders, we not only gained valuable insights but also created a supportive network that helps us thrive despite challenges. Our commitment to continuous learning and improvement has been key in ensuring our resilience and growth.

Vanesa: Thank you for your prompt answer! I believe our reader are interested in learning what have been some of the most valuable lessons learned through running this company?

George: Running The HR Innovator has provided me with numerous valuable lessons.

First and foremost, the importance of adaptability stands out. The HR landscape is constantly changing, and being able to pivot quickly in response to new trends and challenges has been essential for our success. This flexibility allows us to stay relevant and meet the evolving needs of our community.

Secondly, I’ve learned the significance of building strong relationships. Networking is not just about making connections; it’s about fostering genuine partnerships that can lead to collaboration and mutual growth. Engaging with our community and listening to their feedback has been invaluable in shaping our events and offerings.

Lastly, I’ve come to appreciate the power of resilience. Challenges are inevitable, but maintaining a positive mindset and a focus on long-term goals has helped us navigate tough times. Each obstacle has been a learning opportunity, reinforcing our commitment to our mission and the HR community. These lessons continue to guide us as we move forward.

Vanesa: You build a strong company and relationships indeed! Let’s take a pick in the future – what are the plans for the company?

For 2025, we have exciting events scheduled in Sofia, London, and New York, and we're exploring the possibility of adding Stockholm to our lineup, depending on resources.

First, we’re expanding our event series to new locations in 2025, with conferences already planned in Sofia, London, and New York. We’re also looking into adding Stockholm to our lineup, which would be an exciting milestone for us.

Vanesa: I was wondering, you talk with such a passion, what do you consider as a success and impact of your events on the HR community?

George: Success for The HR Innovator’s events is measured by the tangible impact we create within the HR community. Here are some key indicators of success:

  • Meaningful Connections: One of our primary goals is to foster networking opportunities that lead to lasting professional relationships. When attendees share success stories about collaborations and partnerships initiated at our events, it validates our mission.

  • Positive Feedback: We actively solicit feedback from participants, and the high satisfaction rates we receive reflect that our events are meeting their needs. Attendees often highlight the relevance of the content, the quality of speakers, and the overall experience.

  • Actionable Insights: Success also comes from attendees reporting that they’ve implemented new ideas, strategies, or practices in their organizations as a direct result of what they learned. This demonstrates that our events are not only informative but also transformative.

  • Long-term Partnerships: Building relationships with industry leaders and organizations that extend beyond the events is another measure of success. When we see ongoing collaborations that stem from our gatherings, it signifies a lasting impact.

Overall, we define success as the positive changes and growth within the HR community that result from our efforts, ultimately helping professionals navigate the evolving landscape of human resources.

Vanesa: And last but not least, what do you hope attendees take away from your events?

George: As the founder and CEO of The HR Innovator, I hope attendees leave our events with several key takeaways:

  • Actionable Insights: I want participants to gain practical knowledge and strategies they can implement immediately within their organizations. Our sessions are designed to provide real-world applications of the concepts discussed.

  • Networking Opportunities: Building meaningful connections is crucial in HR. I hope attendees establish relationships with peers, industry leaders, and potential collaborators, fostering a supportive professional network.

  • Inspiration and Motivation: I aim for our events to inspire attendees to think differently about their roles and challenges. Exposure to innovative ideas and success stories can reignite their passion for HR and motivate them to drive positive change.

Ultimately, I want our events to empower HR professionals, equipping them with the tools, connections, and motivation they need to thrive in their careers and make a meaningful impact within their organizations.

Vanesa: Thank you George for this insightful and inspirational conversation! This is a real-life story of entrepreneurship fueled by a vision and a purposeful mission centered on improving the professional lives of people.
