Job Description
The Chief Accountant is responsible for overseeing the entire accounting department and ensuring the financial statements and records are accurate and in compliance with local regulatory requirements, international accounting standards and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Operations & Controls:
-
- Oversee daily accounting activities such as ledger entries, reconciliations and settlements.
- Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed and reported.
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Recommend improvements to the accounting processes and systems to optimize efficiency.
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in accounting.
Regulatory Compliance:

- Stay updated with local and international accounting standards and regulations.
- Ensure the company’s financial practices are in line with statutory regulations and legislation.
Taxation:

- Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax declarations and timely payment of taxes.
- Coordinate with tax consultants and handle tax-related topics.
- Coordinate and collaborate with relevant stakeholders for Transfer Pricing documentation.
- Developing and maintaining tax compliance procedures and risk assessment frameworks, to ensure effective tax management.
- Stay updated with changes in tax laws and regulations and proactively identify potential risks or opportunities for the organization.
- Foster a culture of tax compliance and awareness throughout the organization, providing training and support as needed.
Financial Reporting & Management:

- Prepare, review, and finalize monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure timely submission of financial reports to the top management and relevant authorities.
- Coordinate with external auditors and facilitate the annual audit process.
Budgeting & Forecasting:

- Supervise the budgeting and financial forecasting processes for Hungarian entities according with Group rules.
- Monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis in collaboration with relevant internal stakeholders.
Stakeholder Management:

- Act as the main point of contact for financial and accounting matters with internal departments, external partners and regulatory bodies.
- Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on tax implications of business decisions and transactions in consultation with Group Tax Director and Regional Tax Manager.
Team Leadership & Development:

- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance reviews, identify training needs, and provide feedback to the team members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified tax consultant will be considered a plus.
- A minimum of 10 years of professional accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a financial management role.
Skills & Competencies:
- Knowledge of local regulatory requirements.
- IFRS knowledge will be considered a plus.
- Proficiency in accounting software and tools. Experience with MS Dynamics will be considered a plus.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office packs, especially Microsoft Excel
- Good level of English written and spoken.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
