Job Description

Location: Bucharest, Sector 1 (Hybrid: 3 days office / 2 days remote)
Role Overview:
- As the first Compliance Officer in Romania, your main focus will be ensuring adherence to corporate policies, local regulations, AML and GDPR standards, and National Bank of Romania (NBR) guidelines. You will also support administrative processes within the local team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitoring and evaluating customer payments for AML compliance.
- Reporting to AML regulatory authorities.
- Conducting initial and periodic screenings (sanctions, adverse media) of clients and vendors.
- Supporting internal/external compliance audits.
- Managing compliance processes aligned with NBR regulations.
- Maintaining comprehensive compliance documentation.
- Facilitating compliance training and communication.
- Managing and updating third-party contracts and vendor reviews.
- Overseeing regulatory and vendor safety checks.
- Implementing compliance controls and administrative tasks as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (Law, Finance, or related preferred).
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in compliance or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of EU AML and GDPR.
- Fluency in Romanian and advanced English skills.
- Familiarity with financial reporting, auditing procedures advantageous.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and proactive attitude.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Additional Details:
- Reports to local director and regional compliance manager.
- Small local office environment; collaboration and flexibility needed.
- Regular use of corporate compliance tools for monitoring purposes.
