Job Title: Deputy Head, Oil & Gas - Corporate Banking-Nigeria

To support the Head of Oil & Gas Corporate Banking in managing a robust portfolio of Oil & Gas clients, driving business growth, enhancing client relationships, and ensuring profitability while maintaining high credit quality. Contribute to the strategic direction of the Oil & Gas segment in alignment with the Bank’s overall goals.Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and executing the Oil & Gas sector strategy, focusing on asset and liability growth, profitability, and market share expansion.
- Manage relationships with a diverse portfolio of Oil & Gas clients, including upstream, midstream, and downstream companies.
- Support the origination of new business opportunities and structure innovative financing solutions tailored to client needs.
- Monitor and maintain the quality of the portfolio by ensuring adherence to risk management policies and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Treasury, Risk, and Legal to ensure seamless delivery of financial solutions to clients.
- Participate in syndicated lending opportunities within the Oil & Gas sector, including deal structuring and negotiations.
- Drive the growth of trade finance and project finance solutions for Oil & Gas clients, working closely with local and international partners.
- Facilitate cross-selling opportunities by identifying client needs and leveraging the Bank’s product offerings.
- Provide coaching and development to team members, ensuring a high-performance culture.
- Act as a deputy to the Head of Oil & Gas Corporate Banking, stepping in as needed to represent the department.
Key Performance Indicators
- Growth in Oil & Gas sector portfolio (assets, liabilities, and off-balance sheet exposures).
- Client satisfaction and retention metrics.
- Achievement of profitability targets for the Oil & Gas segment.
- Regulatory compliance and risk management adherence.
- Contribution to the Bank’s overall market share in the Oil & Gas industry.
Minimum Requirements
- University degree in Finance, Accountancy, Economics, or a related business field.
- An MBA or relevant postgraduate degree is an added advantage.
- Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CFA, or ICAN are preferred.
- At least 10 years of banking experience, with a minimum of 5 years in Oil & Gas Corporate Banking at a senior level.
- Proven track record in business development and client relationship management within the Oil & Gas sector.
Competencies and Attributes
- Strong knowledge of the Oil & Gas value chain, including upstream, midstream, and downstream activities.
- Expertise in corporate finance, structured finance, and trade finance solutions.
- Skilled in risk assessment, credit analysis, and regulatory compliance within the Oil & Gas sector.
- Strong negotiation and deal-closing capabilities.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Strategic thinking with a focus on achieving business objectives.
