Job Title: Financial Operations Officer -UK

Role Purpose:
Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, the Financial Operations Officer has overall responsibility to assist the Head of Finance with the management of the firm’s financial resources and the production and integrity of the firm’s financial information and its regulatory reporting. The role supports the delivery of the Business Plan and strategic objectives from a Finance perspective.
Responsibilities:
- Provision of accurate and timely Management Information and data analysis for review by Head of Finance to enable effective monitoring / control of the business and for informed decision making by senior management, in line with strategy.
- Preparation of financial commentary based on financial data, trend and variance analysis for relevant business areas / functions, Board Reports and CEO.
- Execute the following finance activities under supervision of the Head of Finance:
- Engagement with Suppliers: utilities, phone, council etc.
- Fixed assets register maintenance, periodic inventories and depreciation schedule preparation
- Review of Bank Reconciliations and investigation of discrepancies
- Petty cash transactions - control and reconciliation
- Prepayments and Accruals
- Invoice processing
- Payment processing requests
- Expense form processing
- Intercompany accounts
- Monitoring and maintenance of the General Ledger, Financial accounts and Management accounts including back up, supporting schedules and reconciliations and Journal posting for month end and year end accounts.
- Implementation of the finance strategies and policies as developed by the CFO ensuring consistency with the overall Group strategy.
- Recommend and implement financial processes and procedures to ensure effective internal controls and running of the business area and to execute the tasks effectively.
- Review, maintain and update finance documentation, including Finance Procedures Manual, under instruction of the Head of Finance.
- Provision of relevant workings and explanations for auditor queries (both internal and external audit)
- Collation of data for annual tax and quarterly VAT submissions, including supporting paperwork, for review by Head of Finance.
- Financial analysis of data including performance ratios calculations to indicate achievement of business goals, identifying areas for improvement.
- Preparation of Management Accounts, Statutory Accounts and other financial reports, including assessing the data accuracy and integrity of the information included.

Technical:
In-depth knowledge and experience of:
- Finance Function in a financial institution
- Accounting rules and industry standards including IFRS
- UK Companies Act and relevant legislation
- Financial planning, forecasting, budgeting and data analysis
- Financial reporting and management information provision
General
- General finance and financial management experience for successful execution of the role
- Banking experience
- Stakeholder management and cross functional engagement
- Analytical abilities
- Input into Regulatory Reports.
- Comply with FCA and PRA conduct rules.
Qualifications/Education/Training
Essential
- Degree educated - Honours degree level or equivalent qualification
- Part/Fully qualified accountant
- Member of Professional Accounting Organisation
Desirable
- Exposure to formal / on the job training in the banking sector.
