Hiring for a General Manager (Finance) for a non-banking financial company (NBFC) based in Chennai.
Company description:
Our client is a Chennai-based investment-focused Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) that exclusively invests its own funds. Registered with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), they specialize in a diversified portfolio, including traded equity, traded debt, structured products, and private equity (including angel investments). They aim to achieve robust investment results without engaging in borrowing or offering advisory services to others.

- Title / Designation: General Manager (Finance)
- Reporting Manager: CEO
- Location: Chennai
- Work Mode: Work from Office
Role & responsibilities:
- Prepare financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
- Ensure compliance with local and international financial regulations and reporting standards.
- Manage audits & tax filings and work closely with external and internal auditors and tax advisors.
- Address Notices promptly and follow up to secure tax refunds.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments across all areas of the organization, including financial, operational, strategic, and compliance risks.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and policies to minimize exposure to identified risks.
- Maintain internal controls to improve accuracy in financial reporting
- Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance operational efficiency.
- Build relationships with external stakeholders including banks, advisors, and regulatory bodies.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior management on financial matters.
- Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Develop talent and succession plans to ensure the long-term sustainability of the accounting function.
Candidate requirements:
- Should be a qualified Chartered Accountant or MBA in Finance.
- 5-7 years of experience as GM Finance in a Family Office, NBFC, or financial services firm.
- Proficient Knowledge of Indian financial regulations; familiarity with UK and Mauritius taxation is a plus.
- Should have in-depth knowledge of financial planning and risk management principles.
- Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills is required.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism is required.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills is required.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment with a strong commitment to values and legacy.
- Would prefer candidates who have also retired from NBFCs.
