Job Title: Head of Agric & Export Desk – Nigeria

The Head of Agric & Export will play a pivotal role in driving the bank’s strategic focus on agricultural financing and export-oriented businesses. This position requires a dynamic professional with strong expertise in corporate banking, agricultural value chains, and export financing. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and expanding the bank’s portfolio in these sectors, identifying opportunities, mitigating risks, and delivering sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement strategies to grow the bank’s Agric & Export portfolio in alignment with corporate objectives.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with stakeholders in the agricultural and export sectors, including government agencies, private enterprises, and industry associations.
- Drive innovation in product offerings to address the unique needs of the agricultural and export markets.
Business Development:
4. Identify and assess financing opportunities within the agricultural and export sectors, ensuring alignment with the bank's credit policies and risk appetite.
5. Deepen relationships with existing clients while acquiring new corporate clients in the Agric & Export sectors.
6. Monitor market trends and emerging opportunities in agricultural value chains and export businesses to position the bank as a market leader.Portfolio Management:
7. Manage and monitor the performance of Agric & Export loan portfolios to ensure profitability and quality.
8. Work closely with credit and risk teams to structure financing solutions and mitigate risks effectively.
9. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including those related to the agricultural and export sectors.Team Collaboration & Management:
10. Collaborate with other teams within the Corporate Banking Division to cross-sell products and services.
11. Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to team members working on Agric & Export projects.Key Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Agricultural Economics, Economics, Business Administration, or related fields.
- Master’s degree or professional qualifications (e.g., ACCA, CFA, ICAN) will be an advantage.
Experience:
- 7–10 years of experience in corporate banking, with at least 3 years focused on agricultural financing or export business development.
- Proven track record of managing large, complex client relationships and delivering sustainable business growth.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of agricultural value chains, export finance, and international trade.
- Excellent credit analysis and risk assessment skills.
- Relationship management expertise with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
Performance Indicators:
- Growth in Agric & Export portfolio size and revenue.
- Portfolio quality metrics (e.g., non-performing loans).
- Client acquisition and retention rates.
- Successful development of innovative financial products for Agric & Export clients.
