Job Purpose(s):
To lead and manage the aviation corporate client portfolio, ranging from large aviation companies and institutions operating within Nigeria to multinational aviation organizations with a global footprint. Responsible for growing assets and liabilities within the aviation sector, ensuring profitable partnerships, improving the credit quality of the portfolio, and fostering transaction business through exceptional service delivery and innovative technology.

Responsibilities:

• Develop strategic plans for aviation corporate banking in line with the bank's annual and multi-year business development objectives, including preparing business plans for board review.
• Drive corporate balance sheet growth across assets, liabilities, and off-balance sheet exposures within the aviation sector.
• Enhance product and service uptake by aviation corporates and expand relationships across the supply chain in collaboration with other bank departments.
• Grow trade finance opportunities for aviation companies, focusing on import/export needs and leveraging synergies with group entities internationally.
• Build and sustain synergies with regional group operations to harmonize relationships with shared aviation clients.
• Manage syndicated financing for aviation clients at both national and international levels.
• Lead networking efforts in local and international markets, generating leads and opportunities for teams under your supervision.
• Foster collaboration with various bank departments, including Treasury and Retail Banking, to optimize client service delivery.
• Provide effective leadership, management, and development for staff, including succession planning and motivation.
• Present reports and updates to the Executive Committee and relevant bank committees, including the ALCO (Assets and Liabilities Committee).
• Ensure profitability and productivity targets are achieved for the aviation corporate portfolio.
• Maintain strong relationships with international partners, including foreign investors and correspondent banks.

Key Performance Indicators:

• Growth in aviation corporate balance sheet (assets, liabilities, and off-balance sheet exposures).
• Increased product and service consumption by aviation clients.
• Expansion of trade finance business with aviation clients.
• Achieving profitability and productivity ratios for the aviation corporate portfolio.
• Enhanced synergies with group entities and harmonized relationships with shared aviation clients.

Minimum Requirements:

• A university degree in Finance, Economics, Accountancy, or a relevant business-related discipline.
• An MBA or other relevant postgraduate degree.
• Professional qualifications in accountancy or related fields are an added advantage.
• A minimum of 10 years of banking experience, with at least 5 years in a senior corporate banking role focused on aviation or similar sectors.
• Demonstrated success in business development and networking.

Competencies and Attributes:

• Strong leadership experience in managing corporate banking teams and key departments.
• In-depth knowledge of aviation corporate banking, trade finance, and liability management.
• Expertise in debt syndication and multi-lender participation (national and international).
• Thorough understanding of regulatory compliance for aviation finance.
• Proficiency in credit analysis and interpretation of commercial agreements.
• Skill in preparing and managing business plans, forecasts, and cash flow analyses.
• Operational expertise in transactional banking and aviation-specific financial operations.
• Trade finance skills, including letters of credit, avalization of bills, and incoterms for the aviation industry.
• Experience in foreign exchange and aviation-specific hedging solutions.
• Proven ability to structure finance solutions tailored to the aviation sector.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
