Job Title: Head of Manufacturing, FMCG & Commerce, Corporate Banking - Nigeria

- To lead and manage the corporate banking portfolio within the Manufacturing, FMCG, and Commerce sectors, driving growth in assets, liabilities, and transactions while ensuring exceptional service delivery and innovative financial solutions.
- Strengthen client relationships and create synergies to maximize profitability and support the strategic goals of the bank.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic plans for the Manufacturing, FMCG & Commerce sectors in alignment with the bank’s overall business objectives.
- Drive balance sheet growth, including assets, liabilities, and off-balance sheet exposures.
- Increase penetration of banking products and services across the sector value chains.
- Grow trade finance business by focusing on importers/exporters and fostering synergies with Group entities globally.
- Identify and enhance synergies with other business units, including Treasury and Retail Banking.
- Lead client acquisition efforts and foster long-term partnerships with key players in Manufacturing, FMCG, and Commerce.
- Manage syndication deals and coordinate with other lenders to support large corporate transactions.
- Build and maintain relationships with international investors and correspondent banks.
- Provide effective leadership to the team, ensuring motivation, succession planning, and capacity development.
- Report to the Executive Committee and other key committees, including ALCO.
- Monitor profitability and ensure achievement of productivity targets for the sector portfolio.
Key Performance Indicators
- Growth in sector-specific balance sheet components (assets, liabilities, off-balance sheet).
- Increased uptake of the bank’s products and services across the Manufacturing, FMCG & Commerce sectors.
- Growth in trade finance business within the designated industries.
- Profitability and productivity ratios for the sector portfolio.
- Strong collaboration with Group entities and other business units.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accountancy, Economics, or related fields.
- MBA or relevant postgraduate degree preferred.
- Professional qualification in a related discipline (e.g., CFA, ACCA).
- At least 10 years of experience in Banking, with 5 years in senior Corporate Banking roles.
- Demonstrated expertise in business development and sector-specific networking.
Competencies and Attributes
- Strong team management and leadership experience.
- In-depth knowledge of corporate banking practices, trade finance, and structured finance.
- Expertise in regulatory compliance, credit analysis, and legalities of credit agreements.
- Deep understanding of Manufacturing, FMCG & Commerce industries’ financial dynamics.
- Strong operational knowledge of transactional banking and trade finance instruments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to analyze cash flow and financial data to drive decision-making.
