Job Purpose

Our client, a global investment management firm based in Washington, DC, is seeking a Head of Strategy and Investor Relations (Deputy CEO). This critical leadership role supports the CEO in driving the firm’s strategic vision, fostering investor relationships, and overseeing operational and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate is a mid-career professional with 10+ years of experience in portfolio management within the UK or US markets, with a strong focus on alternative assets.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Collaborate closely with the CEO to define and implement the firm’s strategic objectives.
• Develop and execute innovative strategies for growth and market leadership, with a focus on alternative asset classes.
• Oversee strategic initiatives across business functions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Investor Relations

• Build and maintain strong relationships with investors, positioning the firm as a trusted partner.
• Lead communication efforts with existing and prospective investors, providing insights into the firm’s performance and strategic direction.
• Represent the firm at high-profile industry events, investor meetings, and conferences.

Portfolio Oversight

• Drive the identification and evaluation of investment opportunities in the UK and US markets, particularly within alternative assets.
• Provide strategic guidance to the portfolio management team, ensuring optimal asset allocation and risk management.

Operational Leadership

• Act as a trusted advisor and deputy to the CEO, stepping in as needed to represent the CEO internally and externally.
• Support the development of a high-performance culture across the firm by mentoring and guiding senior team members.
• Monitor industry trends and provide insights to inform executive decision-making.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA or CFA preferred).
• At least 10 years of experience in strategy, portfolio management, or investor relations within the investment management industry.
• Strong expertise in alternative assets and a proven track record managing portfolios in the UK or US markets.
• Exceptional leadership and relationship management skills, with a strategic mindset and ability to drive initiatives.
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to represent the firm at the highest levels.
• Leadership experience, with the ability to collaborate and mentor cross-functional teams effectively.
