Role Overview

A leading reinsurance firm is seeking an experienced Senior Treaty Underwriter to assess and manage treaty reinsurance risks. This role involves underwriting complex treaty submissions, evaluating pricing models, and maintaining strong relationships with brokers and cedants. The successful candidate will contribute to portfolio profitability while ensuring alignment with the company's risk appetite and underwriting strategies.

Reporting to: Executive Head of Treaty

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Finance, or a related field.

Professional certifications in reinsurance or risk management are an advantage.

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in treaty underwriting, preferably within a reinsurance environment.

Strong technical expertise in risk assessment and portfolio management.

Proficiency in underwriting software, exposure modeling tools, and Microsoft Excel.

Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills.

Ability to work independently while collaborating in a fast-paced team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Evaluate and underwrite treaty submissions in line with company guidelines and risk appetite.

Analyze exposure data, technical pricing models, and market trends to structure appropriate treaty terms.

Monitor portfolio performance and implement risk mitigation strategies as needed.

Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, cedants, and internal stakeholders.

Negotiate treaty terms and pricing to ensure balanced and sustainable business growth.

Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks.

Work closely with actuarial, claims, and risk management teams to align underwriting strategies.

Prepare reports and provide insights to senior management on portfolio performance and risk assessment.
