Job Title: Sourcing Head (Purchase)

Job Summary:
The Sourcing Head will be responsible for creating and implementing sourcing strategies. The role involves managing strategic sourcing activities to minimize risks and optimize the value/resilience of materials/services. The individual will establish supplier relationships, drive continuous improvement initiatives, negotiate contracts, and monitor market dynamics. Collaboration with internal stakeholders to meet sourcing needs is a key part of this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing
➢Develop and deploy regional commodity strategies with category leaders to achieve year-on-year cost reduction.
➢Identify suppliers to meet commodity requirements, including quality, cost, delivery, and inventory control (Kanban, VMI, consignment inventory programs).
➢Monitor and analyse commodity trends, with a strong understanding of imports.
Cost Management
➢Conduct detailed cost analysis and develop cost sheets for parts in related commodities. Build supplier partnerships to optimize costs.
➢Negotiate commercial agreements to achieve total cost of ownership and drive cost-reduction projects aligned with profit plans.
Supplier Development
➢Evaluate and support strategic suppliers in improving scorecards, capability assessments, risk management, and capacity mapping.
➢Drive Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) initiatives in collaboration with engineering teams to achieve material cost reductions.
Operational Excellence
➢Work with SDE (Supplier Development Engineering) on capacity improvement, cost reduction related to supply chain management.
➢Maintain compliance with Code of Ethics, ensuring ethical supplier conduct and adherence to regulatory requirements.
Technical Expertise
➢Ensure deep knowledge of manufacturing processes such as forging, casting, machining, and bearings. Familiarity with quality systems, project management, TCO, and incoterms is essential.
➢Manage vendor development and oversee quality assurance methodologies.
Leadership & People Management
➢Cascade performance objectives, review team performance, and champion digitization and automation to improve efficiency.
➢Promote values and decentralized organizational culture while collaborating with the leadership team.
Key Interactions
➢Internal:
•HOD & Leadership Team: Develop communication strategies and align diverse perspectives.
➢External:
•Vendors: Build strategic partnerships and ensure alignment with company goals.
Requirements & Skills:
➢Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Production, or Automobile Engineering.
➢Experience:
•10 to 12 years in sourcing, supplier development, and procurement, preferably in the auto components sector.
•4 to 5 years of hands-on experience in product costing and formulating commercial contracts.
➢Core Competencies:
•Functional: Cost-consciousness, negotiation, decision-making.
•Behavioural: Analytical thinking, results-oriented, leadership in implementation, talent management.
