JD for Succession Planner:
Job Summary:
The Succession Planner in Wealth Management is responsible for working closely with high-net-worth
individuals and families to develop and implement comprehensive estate and succession plans. This role
ensures that clients' wealth is transferred efficiently and in accordance with their goals, while adhering to
legal, tax, and regulatory requirements. The planner will collaborate with a team of legal, tax, and financial
professionals to provide clients with seamless, personalized succession planning services.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Client Consultations:
○ Conduct in-depth consultations with High-Net-Worth Individuals (HNIs) and
Ultra-High-Net-Worth Individuals (UHNIs) clients to assess their estate planning and
succession needs, financial situation, and goals.
○ Educate clients on various estate planning tools and strategies, including wills, trusts,
powers of attorney (POA), gift deeds, release deeds, and other legal instruments.
2. Estate and Succession Planning:
○ Develop and implement personalized estate plans that include comprehensive
succession strategies.
○ Ensure legal compliance with local and international laws for wealth transfer,
cross-border structures, and estate settlements.
○ Create and oversee trusts, charitable giving strategies, and other mechanisms for
effective wealth transfer across generations.
3. Tax-Efficient Strategies:
○ Provide guidance on minimizing tax liabilities through efficient wealth transfer strategies,
including the use of trusts, gifts, and charitable donations.
○ Stay up to date on tax laws and regulations that impact estate planning and ensure plans
are optimized for tax efficiency.
4. Collaboration with Advisors:
○ Collaborate with external legal firms, tax advisory firms, and financial consultants to
execute cross-border structures, company structures, and complex merger/demerger
transactions.
○ Ensure a coordinated approach among all advisors to create cohesive and legally sound
estate plans.
5. Client Education and Support:
○ Educate clients about the benefits and risks associated with different estate planning and
succession tools.
○ Provide ongoing support, advice, and updates on estate plans, ensuring clients' needs
and circumstances are continuously addressed.
6. Documentation and Reporting:
○ Prepare detailed reports, legal documents, and presentations to communicate estate
planning strategies clearly to clients.
○ Maintain accurate internal records and update management information systems (MIS) to
ensure compliance with company policies.
7. Regulatory Compliance:
○ Ensure all estate and succession plans meet legal and regulatory standards in all
relevant jurisdictions.
○ Regularly review and update plans in light of changing laws and client circumstances.
8. Client Relationship Management:
○ Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients, providing personalized support
tailored to their unique needs.
○ Ensure high levels of client satisfaction and trust by delivering exceptional service.
Qualifications:
● Education:
○ Chartered Accountant (CA) from The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
○ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, Finance or related fields.
○ Certification in estate planning, financial planning, or wealth management is a plus.
● Experience:
○ 10+ years of experience in wealth management, estate planning, or succession planning
with high-net-worth clients.
○ Strong background in legal and tax advisory for estate planning and wealth transfer.
● Skills:
○ Expertise in estate planning tools (wills, trusts, POAs, etc.) and wealth transfer strategies.
○ Strong knowledge of tax laws, regulatory frameworks, and cross-border estate planning.
○ Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear,
client-friendly manner.
○ Strong collaboration and coordination skills, especially in working with external advisors
and legal firms.
